Recount confirms Salem town clerk’s re-election

Salem — A recount of last week’s election results determined that five-term Town Clerk Patricia Crisanti has won another term.

The recount Monday night showed that Crisanti, a Democrat, won, 428-418, over Republican challenger Liz Householder, according to Sue Spang, the Democratic registrar of voters.

Crisanti won her first term as Town Clerk in 2001 by two votes and won re-election two years later by a mere 13 votes. She then went unchallenged until Householder ran for the position this year.

The recount also determined that Democrat Margaret Caron bested Sam Rindell in the Board of Education race. Caron received 350 votes to Rindell’s 347. She’ll sit on the Board of Education with recently elected Republicans George Jackson (396 votes) and Mary Ann Pudimat (479).
