A Blidi sighting

The binoculars are working just fine up in the Rentschler Field press box, and UConn cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson is on the field, participating in pregame drills.

Despite not even being listed on the depth chart for the game, the Huskies need Wreh-Wilson, who has missed the last five games with a knee injury, to shore up an inexperienced secondary that has struggled at times. With Wreh-Wilson, a legitimate lockdown corner, out, UConn has moved freshman Byron Jones from nickelback to corner and clasmate Ty-Meer Brown to safety. Both have showed flashes at times, but they are young and have lacked consistency. A healthy Wreh-Wilson will help UConn immensely.

Everything fell in to place during last week's bye week, and UConn can do no worse than tying for the Big East title by winning its final three games, starting today at home against Lousiville, a team that beat the Huskies badly last year.

I haven't been able to figure this team out all season, but the offense moved the ball well in the second half two weeks ago against Syracuse with Scott McCummings at the helm, the D-line has started to play like it should and the Huskies always play well at home.

I say UConn wins, 20-13, and keeps their Big East title hopes alive to set up a showdown next week at the Rent against Rutgers.

In other news, Bob Lichtenfels, a FOX Sports recruiting analyst, first reported on Friday that Milford Academy running back Montrell Dobbs won't meet UConn qulaifying standards and appears headed to Marshall next season.

Dobbs is an Ansonia High product and one of coach Paul Pasqualoni's key in-state recruits during the Connecticut native's first recruiting season. Dobbs ran roughshod over Montville in last season's Class S semifinals, running for 363 yards and four touchdowns in a 46-15 win.
