Before you eat or before you head over to Griswold High School for the 10 a.m. football game against Plainfield, why not take a swim in Ashland Pond?
School athletic director Glenn LaBossiere says about 100 people will participate in the 9th annual Turkey Dip at 8 a.m. sharp Thanksgiving morning. It will take place behind the Jacques Cartier Club on Wilson Street in the borough.
The event raises money for the school's booster club, LaBossiere said, and generally brings in around $2,500 to $3,000. The student that raises the most wins an iPad, LaBossiere said.
Tomorrow's forecast looks good, with a forecasted high of 52 and sunny conditions.
Here are some great photos of the last year's event.
First Selectman Philip Anthony Jr. said he'll participate this year for the fourth time. Anthony said he's raised just more than $500 this year.
"Every time I say, that’s it, I'll write a check, I'm not doing it again," said Anthony.
But he is. Sounds like a good way to kick off the day.
Happy Thanksgiving!
