Mayor Peter Nystrom is not moving out of Norwich.

Yes, his house at 116 Broad St. is for sale. The Nystrom family is looking to downsize from the beautiful historic house where they raised three children to a smaller house under construction on the East Side.

“I could hear the roar of the Greeneville Dam as I sleep,” Nystrom said.
Nystrom was born in Greeneville and considers this move returning to his roots there.

It’s hard to leave his Broad Street home so rich in Norwich history. The 1880s house was built by the Judd family, who created and donated the Rose Garden to the city. That’s why the road at the garden is called Judd Road.

Nystrom said one Roy Judd excavated the grounds to create the garden. He has documents from the family in the attic. The house has all its original woodwork and cabinets.

So if you’re interested in owning a piece of Norwich history, go see the mayor, who plans to remain a Norwich resident for the foreseeable future.
