Grab your friends and colleagues or motivate just yourself to participate in the River Valley Slim Down challenge run by IFoundFitness in Deep River. The snow isn’t the only thing that many of us will be hoping to melt off this winter – shed those pounds that you’ve been wanting to lose or that you may have put on with all the delicious holiday celebrations you’ve enjoyed.
River Valley Slim Down is akin to the Biggest Loser where participants will compete over 12 weeks to lose the highest percentage of weight and to win a jackpot cash reward along with other prizes. You may compete as an individual or with a group of friends or colleagues. The challenge runs from January 7, 2012 through April 1, 2012.
“The goal of this challenge is to provide a local opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles that prevent illness and other obesity related diseases.” said Donna Scott, owner of IFoundFitness. “The challenge focuses on weight control, exercise and group motivation.”
In addition to getting healthier, the first 15 participants to register will receive a free 50 minute wellness assessment and goal setting session by board certified health coach, Penny Smyth of New Beginnings Health and Wellness. “Additionally,” said Donna, “we’ve partnered with some of my favorite local businesses who have donated prizes to each male and female winner of the River Valley Slim Down Challenge. Prizes include a hair and makeup consultation, a massage and two wardrobe consultations ”
Donna also believes in giving back to the community, so IFoundFitness has partnered with Adams Super Food Store in Deep River and will be donating in canned goods a percentage of River Valley Slim Down proceeds for The Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries. “Adams is very happy to support such a worthwhile challenge and to help support another local business.” said Jeff Prindle, manager of Adams Super Foods in Deep River. “IFoundFitness’s challenge dovetails nicely with a healthy eating initiative Adams will be launching this winter.”
There is a one-time fee of $65.00 to participate in the challenge. To register and learn the more about the competition, contact IFoundFitness at (860) 961-4507 or email Donna at donna@ifoundfitness.com.
