Roundup: Donahue scores 34 as Bears win in OT

Ledyard - Jackson Donahue scored 34 points to lead the Stonington High School boys' basketball team to a 55-52 overtime win over Ledyard Thursday night in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division game.

Connor Buckley scored eight points and Donahue made four 3-pointers for Stonington (2-0, 1-0). Darnay Gray and Thomas Whipple scored 13 points each for Ledyard (1-1, 0-1).

In other games:

• Griswold took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter before being outscored 14-1 by Amistad Academy in a 42-31 loss. Zach Wood had 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for the Wolverines (0-1).

• John Lorange scored 13 of his 21 points in the first half as Plainfield jumped out to a 38-15 halftime lead and went on to beat Norwich Tech 77-33 in a nonleague game. Drake Baton led Norwich Tech (0-2) with 14 points.

H.S. girls' basketball

• Kylie Fustini scored a game-high 19 points while Michelle Klinikowski had 17 points and Olivia DelGrosso added 16 in Ledyard's 62-43 win over Stonington in the ECC Medium Division. The Colonels (4-0, 2-0) broke open a tight game by outscoring the Bears 33-15 in the second half. Falecia Cabral had 10 points for Stonington (0-3, 0-2).

College men's basketball

• A.J. English and Ky Howard combined for 41 points and 11 rebounds as St. Thomas More remained unbeaten with a 77-62 win over the Robinson School. English had 20 points and six rebounds and Howard scored 21 with five rebounds. Chier Ajou and former New London High standout Torin Childs-Harris each scored 12 for T-More (10-0).

St. Thomas More's Stuart McEwen, a 6-foot-9 forward from Australia, committed to play at Old Dominion.

H.S. hockey

• Fitch-East Lyme-Ledyard lost its season opener Wednesday night, losing to Lyman Hall 5-1. Kyle Gurnee had an unassisted goal in the third period for Fitch-East Lyme-Ledyard.

H.S. squash

• Williams School opened its season with a 5-2 win over Choate on Wednesday. Jack Shannon, Carter Levin, Adam Verhoeff, Jenner Foster and Ben Lahm won matches for Williams.
