New London— The United States Coast Guard Band presents its annual concert of film music on Jan. 22, 2 p.m., at the Coast Guard Academy.
The “Fanfare for Rocky” kicks off the program, followed by music from the popular Alfred Hitchcock adventure “North by Northwest.” Coast Guard Band soloists are featured in two different John Williams’ film scores of Steven Spielberg classics. Chief Musician Elizabeth Jackson, flute, performs music from the film “The Sugarland Express” and Chief Musician Rob McEwan, vibraphone, and Musician First Class Greg Case, alto saxophone, are featured in music from “Catch Me If You Can.”
Soprano soloist, Musician First Class Megan Weikleenget, will perform “A Tribute to Judy Garland. The program also features rousing music from “Batman” and the “Harry Potter” film series.
This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required. Leamy Concert Hall is handicapped accessible.
