Sturbridge, Mass. - Five people from North Stonington and Voluntown will join dozens of other sleigh drivers who are slated to compete in the second annual Antique Sleigh Rally at Old Sturbridge Village on Feb. 4.
Slated to compete are Jen and Jeff Marshall and Kathy MacNamara, all of North Stonington, and Karl and Sue Lado of Voluntown. Last year the Marshalls drove an antique farm sleigh circa 1870 pulled by two Gypsy mares. The Lados, who own K&S Farm, a rescue farm for geriatric saddle horses, drove a restored Portland Cutter sleigh, pulled by a 10-year-old Clydesdale.
The event will feature a variety of sleighs, many of which are as old as 120 years, competing is different divisions such as Sleigh Dog and Currier & Ives. There are also a variety of horse breeds. The event is open to the public and free with museum admission. More information is at www.osv.org.
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
