Sun open their 10th season on May 19

The Connecticut Sun's 2012 season, it's 10th at Mohegan Sun Arena, opens May 19 on the road against the New York Liberty.

The WNBA teams meet again the next day with a 5 p.m. game at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Sun, who finished second in the Eastern Conference last season with a 21-13 record, play seven of their first nine games at home.

The WNBA season will be interrupted for a month during the Summer Olympic Games in London. After playing the Sky in Chicago on July 13, the Sun are off until an August 16 game against the Liberty at New York.

The Sun will be led this season by former UConn star and 2010 WNBA Rookie of the Year Tina Charles. Veteran point guard Kara Lawson and former UConn stars Asjha Jones, Renee Montgomery and Kalana Greene will also be back.

Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen and the defending WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx visit Mohegan Sun Arena on June 1 for a 7 p.m. game.
