Hygienic hosts Young Artists

They may be on the youthful side, but that doesn't mean the painters and sketchers and sculptors who populate the Hygienic's Young Artists show don't have big-time talent.

You'll realize as much if you go to the opening celebration, which runs from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Garde Gallery. That day also promises art activities for youngsters in attendance, musical performances, wandering puppets, and more.

If, however, you're a young artist yourself, here's the way to get in on the action:

You have to be 14 years old or younger, first of all.

And that's pretty much the only restrictive part.

Beyond that, you just have to bring one piece of art to the gallery at 305 State Street between 4 and 7 p.m. today and Friday. There are no rules about the subject matter, the size or the format. Nothing has to be framed. So go and have fun.
