I as an East Haven resident must admit I feel the pain of the Mayors "Taco's" comment and mistreatment of our Latino residents as many of my friends in East Haven are of Latino heritage as well are members of my family. My family also has many members that are of African American heritage and I love and respect my friends as I do my family

It is very painful to me as a resident when our Mayor chooses to single out people because of their heritage. The Mayor also mentioned the Irish community I am Irish, English and American Indian as well as disabled so when our town's Mayor chooses to act unprofessional in my opinion unmorally by choosing verbiage and actions that are of a racially biased nature I find this horrifying as our elected officials should set an example we as residents can be proud of instead our Mayor has by his actions placed our town under a spotlight that portrays East Haven as a narrow minded racist town instead of it's true picture of one where neighbors and friends can live side by side and work together as one community that we can all be proud to call home.

Remember my friends it IS NOT the color of one’s skin or where they come from that matters but it is what’s in their Hearts and where they are headed that matters most it is not the town that determines how great the residents of our community are but the residents of our community that determine how great our town is and shall be.

I am proud to reach out to my friends and family members of Latino and African American heritage and embrace them and celebrate that which makes them special that which exists within their hearts and the treasures they bring into my life by simply being who they are.
