H.S. boys' basketball: Donahue's 31 leads Bears past Colonels

Stonington - Jackson Donahue scored 31 points as second-place Stonington High School outlasted Ledyard 63-59 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division boys' basketball game on Friday night.

Donahue also had five steals and four rebounds for the Bears (11-3, 5-1), who extended their winning streak to nine and trail unbeaten Waterford by a game in the Medium Division standings.

Ledyard is 10-4, 2-4 and had a six-game winning streak snapped.

Will DeFanti added 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for Stonington while Darnay Gray scored 18 points for the Colonels, Thomas Whipple added 13 and John Rainey 11.

In other games:

• Geary McLeod scored 18 points, leading unbeaten Waterford to a 79-59 win over Montville in an ECC Medium Division game.

Nolan Long scored 13 and Ron Baude had 12 points for Waterford (12-0, 6-0). A.J. Allard led Montville (3-11, 0-6) with 26 points.

• Irving Eggleston (22) and Wade McNamara combined for 42 points and East Lyme beat Woodstock Academy 68-47 in an ECC Large Division game.

East Lyme (7-7, 2-4) outscored Woodstock 31-16 during the second and third quarters.

• Zak Miazga had 20 points and Connor Chicoski scored 18 to lead Bacon Academy to a 72-67 win over Fitch in an ECC Large Division game. Brendan Violette and Tim Willauer had 12 points each for Bacon (8-6, 4-2).

Chad Graham scored 27, Chris Corum-Giles had 14 points and five steals and Riley Pyzalski scored 10 and had nine rebounds for Fitch (5-10, 0-6).

• Tim Martineck scored 17 points with seven rebounds to lead Griswold to a 45-38 win over Plainfield in an ECC Small Division game. Zach Wood had nine points, eight rebounds and five assists for Griswold (4-8, 4-2).

• Pete Aldrich scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds to help lead St. Bernard to a 94-54 win over Wheeler in an ECC Small Division game. Brian Harper had 16 points, Phil Jenkins scored 13 and Tristan Hurley had 11 points for St. Bernard (6-9, 3-3). Troy Stefanski scored 15 and Chris Fowley had 14 points for Wheeler (1-11, 0-6).
