Policy is There to be Followed

As a former board member of Guilford Day Care and Before and After School Program, it has come to my attention that the board has appointed its president to run the day care center when Pam Orton, the present director, retires in March. The board has not made an attempt to get a qualified director to take her place. It also has not followed its own policy, which states posting requirements and the application process.

There are qualified people at the Day Care Center as well as in our community. In the state of Connecticut, there is also a pool of qualified people available for interim directorship.

The board should have been open to a search for a new director. The policy is there to be followed, and those board members who decided to usher in a friend should revisit their decision.
