North Stonington — A North Stonington woman drove her car into the side of the Mystic Pizza II restaurant Wednesday night.
After Jill Morgan, 35, of 39 Fowler Road, crashed her Hummer into the building, police said she fled the scene on foot. She was later apprehended at the Westerly Hospital. The incident happened at 8:08 p.m.
Police said charges are pending.
Police said Morgan was attempting to leave the parking lot when she struck the building. No one inside the restaurant was injured.
The North Stonington building official was called in to assess the damage.
Harry Spanos, owner of the restaurant, was not at the business when the accident occurred.
“I’m glad no one got serious hurt,” said Spanos.
Spanos said the business is open but the dining room where the accident occurred is closed while repairs are underway.
“We have people working here 24/7,” said Spanos. “We should be open again tomorrow.”
