New London - Doug Henton led five players in double figures and Kris Dunn added a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the New London High School boys' basketball team beat East Lyme 82-68 Thursday night in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division.

That win clinched the division for the fourth-ranked Whalers (13-2, 8-0), which also got 19 points from Malcolm Simmons, 14 from Keith Porter and 10 from Khaleed Fields.

"Overall, we're relatively happy with the way things are going at this point," New London coach Craig Parker said. "There's always room for improvement. As a coach you're never happy; at least I'm not."

New London will play Mount Pleasant of Providence at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence College. Dunn has committed to play next season for Providence.

"I'm sure they're going to be really pumped up to play us. We're expecting a real nice atmosphere," Parker said.

Irving Eggleston had 16 points for East Lyme (8-8, 3-5), Wade McNamara 15, Jeff Schumacher 14 and Harry Thiede 11.
