Selectman Cindy Cartier was recently recognized by the Guilford Parks & Recreation Department for her outstanding contributions.
"Selectman Cartier has done a lot with the Department in many ways," said Parks & Recreation Director Rick Maynard. "In particular, she has conducted a yoga program at Jacobs Beach for the past three years with all the proceeds going to the Camp Scholarship Fund. She has raised more than $10,000 for this fund since the inception of this program in 2008."
Parks & Recreation Commission Chairman Ralph Schipani presented Selectman Cartier with a Certificate of Appreciation, stating that "we are very appreciative of Cindy's support of the department and the Yoga on the Beach Program that has helped many children attend summer camp. This is definitely leading by example."
"I appreciate all the work that the Parks & Recreation Department and their employees do for the citizens of Guilford to provide great programs that improve the quality of life in our town," said Cartier. "This is my way of contributing to their efforts and providing some comfort to our citizens."
When asked if she would continue with the Yoga on the Beach Program, Selectman Cartier responded, "My personal goal is to raise $50,000 for the Camp Scholarship Fund, so yes, I look forward to continuing this program which has improved the lives of both attendees and our children who have been able to benefit. Who knows…maybe we can raise $100,000!"
Selectman Cynthia Cartier is a Republican candidate for the 12th District State Senate Seat.
