Waterford — The Clark Lane Middle School Mathcounts team placed second last weekend in a regional competition that included 27 other teams from other middle schools.
Team captain and eighth-grader Robert Kao scored first place in the individual competition with a perfect score. Other team members are eighth-graders Kevin Su and Areeb Mirza and seventh-grader Nathaniel Rowe. The alternates were sixth-graders Sophie Wang, Colin Lee and Agrawal Nikhil.
More than 150 students took part in the competition. The Clark Lane team will next compete in a state competition March 10.
