Don't force beliefs on the non-believers

A recent letter writer - "Atheist needs lesson in Christian belief" (Feb. 3) - seems to think he knows the reasons for Jessica Ahlquist's atheism and her opposition to a religious banner in her public school. The letter writer is well steeped in his "Christian" zeal and blind to the fact that he worships a non-entity. Most mentally deluded people fiercely defend their delusions so they may feel more comfortable.
Ms. Ahlquist has her own reasons for believing or not believing as she wishes. It is her right and no one may, by law, abridge that right. Our founding ancestors made the right to worship freely (or not, if you wish) one of personal choice, not one that is decreed by government. No government may tell us, in this country, how to and to whom we must worship. The banner was unconstitutional. A judge ruled it had to come down.
I would urge the prior letter writer to stop putting words in other people's mouths. Enjoy the freedom to follow your delusions, and allow others the right to follow their beliefs (or non-beliefs) as they choose.
I am tired of Christians justifying their beliefs by cramming them down the throats of those who do not think as they do.
