Brooklyn – State police arrested a New York man Wednesday on 53 counts of forgery after he allegedly used a counterfeit bill at an area business.

Brooklyn resident trooper Trotter arrested and charged Jamar Campbell, 31, of Bronx, N.Y., with 53 counts of first-degree forgery and sixth-degree attempted larceny after he allegedly used fake money at a business along Route 6 around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said Campbell had $1,970 in fake $50, $20 and $10 bills when arrested. Another $90 in fake currency was found at a Killingly home, police said.

Police urge local businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills. Police say $20 bills with serial numbers “EG 70373389D” and “GE 36456060 C,” $50 bills with serial number “JB 33255006 A” and $10 bills with serial number “JC 57291188 A” are fake.

Anyone who receives any fake currency is asked to call police.
