Storrs - UConn coach Jim Calhoun missed his fourth straight game while on medical leave of absence Wednesday night, an 80-54 rout of DePaul at Gampel Pavilion, and he will miss at least two more games.
Calhoun is dealing with spinal stenosis, a painful lower back condition, and is receiving treatment, according to an athletic department release.
The released also said Calhoun has had a number of evaluations with doctors in attempt to diagnose the specific cause of discomfort and determine a treatment plan.
UConn hosts Marquette on Saturday and then visits Villanova on Monday. Associate head coach George Blaney will continue to run the team.
"I am happy that we seem to have located the problem and I am currently moving forward with treatment," Calhoun said in a released statement. "We have to give that treatment time to see whether or not it is effective.
"I'm hoping by the middle of next week, we will have a much clearer picture of where we are and when I can look forward to getting back to doing what I do."
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
