New London - Kris Dunn hit a pull-up jump shot in the third quarter that gave him 2,000 career points in the New London High School boys' basketball team's 89-54 victory Friday over Woodstock Academy in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division.

Dunn, recently named the first McDonald's All-American in Whalers' history, finished with 29 points in the victory, heading to the bench shortly after reaching his latest milestone.

"I did some research and I believe Kris is the 18th player in Connecticut to score 2,000," New London coach Craig Parker said. "So he joins a very short list. It's quite the accomplishment."
