Montville High School senior Shatajah Wattley finished second in the girls' 300 meters (40.58 seconds) Saturday at the State Open indoor track championship in New Haven and was third in the 55 dash (7.23).
Norwich Free Academy was the top local team in the girls' meet with 21 points, followed by 11th-place Montville with 14. Hillhouse of New Haven won the championship with 74 points, getting meet-record performances from sprinter Precious Holmes in the 300, 600 and as part of the 4x400 relay.
Staples of Westport won the boys' meet with 47 points. Montville was the top local team, tied for 20th place with eight points.
NFA's Brianna Lenehan was second in the girls' 1,600 (5:12.01) and was part of the Wildcats' 4x400 relay which finished fifth.
Ledyard's Chenoa Sebastian was second in the 55 hurdles (8.76), NFA's Allison Sullivan tied for third in the pole vault (11-0) and NFA's Brittany Grabill third in the long jump.
Montville's Brandon Johnson was second in the boys' 55 hurdles (7.73), East Lyme's Ben Ostrowski third in the 600 (1:22.02) and Griswold's Kyle Craig third in the shot put (50-3.5).
