NORTH BRANFORD - The town's school district has hired a new medical advisor, Dr. Robert Nolfo.
Superintendent of Schools Scott Schoonmaker announced Nolfo, a Guilford resident, accepted the position. Nolfo has served as medical advisor to Guilford Public Schools since 1997 and started the first high school concussion management program in the state at Guilford High School in 2004. In addition to his work in concussion management, his other areas of clinical interest include obesity, sleep disorders, and asthma, according to a press release from North Branford Public Schools.
A physician with Guilford Pediatrics, Dr. Nolfo is also a member of the American Pediatrics Section on School of Health, giving him access to "a network with a wide range of medical professionals regarding pediatric and school-related topics," said Schoonmaker.
Nolfo's new position with North Branford Public Schools was announced on Feb. 15.
"Dr. Nolfo has already begun his work as medical advisor to North Branford by meeting with our nurse supervisor, Joanne Palmieri, and the entire nursing staff. He has also started the process of reviewing policies and procedures in place in the district," said Schoonmaker.
