ROCKY HILL, Conn. (AP) — WFSB-TV has announced that longtime Connecticut news anchor Al Terzi will be leaving the CBS affiliate to pursue other interests.
The Rocky Hill-based station says Terzi's last day on the air will be Friday. He's been with Channel 3 for 28 of the last 44 years.
Terzi didn't immediately return phone and email messages Tuesday morning.
The 69-year-old anchor began working at the station in 1968, when it was known at WTIC-TV. He left in 1978 for a two-year stint in Florida as a news anchor and news director, and survived a crash of a plane he piloted during his time there.
He returned to Connecticut in 1980 and worked for 14 years WTNH-TV in New Haven before returning to WFSB in 1994.
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
