NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A TV news crew in Connecticut unwillingly became part of a story when someone fired gunshots at its truck while it was doing a story on another shooting incident. No one was injured in either incident.
A reporter and cameraman from NBC affiliate WVIT-TV were sitting in their news truck in New Haven Monday afternoon when the shots were fired. They were doing a story about a robbery at a Shelton Avenue market in which one of the suspects fired a shot into the ceiling.
After the robbery, the crew was in its truck near the market when someone opened fire. Bullets hit the back of a car that passed by the truck but missed the crew.
No arrests have been made. Police are searching for suspects in both incidents.
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
