Fifth-seeded New London High School rallied from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat No. 12 Holy Cross of Waterbury, 56-48, in the second round of the CIAC Class LL boys' basketball tournament on Thursday night at Conway Gymnasium.
Kris Dunn scored 23 points for the Whalers (23-2), who will face No. 4 Windsor, an 82-56 winner over No. 13 Hamden, on Monday at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain (7 p.m.)
New London, which trailed 26-20 at halftime, trailed 32-22 early in the third quarter and then 35-26 before closing the third quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 36-35 lead into the fourth.
Keith Porter was key in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of his 16 points. The Whalers also forced the Crusaders into 16 second-half turnovers.
