Stonington – Police have not yet identified the man whose body was found lying near the railroad tracks in Pawcatuck on Friday.

Sgt. William Morrison said today that the body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office and that a cause of death and identity is not expected to be available until Monday at the earliest. The circumstances of the man’s death are still unclear, he said.

North and southbound Amtrak trains were stopped near Coggswell Street for more than an hour at about 10 p.m. Friday after police received a call reporting the body. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
