Montville – A 1.5-story home at 24 Old Colchester Road Extension was damaged by fire late Saturday.
The fire was reported just before 11:30 p.m., according to town emergency services officials. It was under control a little past midnight. All occupants left the house safely, officials said and there were no injuries.
The exterior of the home was damaged but it appears to still be habitable according to Bryce Wilkens, acting chief of the Oakdale Fire Department.
The fire is believed to have started near the chimney. The cause is under investigation by Fire Marshal Ray Occhialini.
According to town assessor's records, the 1,762-square foot home is owned by Alfred Fratus and Angela Moreira.
Crews from the Oakdale, Chesterfield and Montville fire departments responded. The Tanker Task Force was also activated to bring water to the scene, since the neighborhood is not served by hydrants.
