RI woman critical after I-95 crash

Waterford — A 20-year-old Rhode Island woman suffered head injuries this morning after her vehicle skidded off Interstate 95, struck a light pole and then overturned, state police said.

Janice M. Wray of East Greenwich, R.I, was flown by Life Star helicopter to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition this afternoon.

Police said Wray was northbound about a quarter-mile south of a highway weigh station when her car skidded off the right side of the road shortly after 9:45 a.m. There were no passengers in the car.

State police said Wray was wearing a seatbelt, and the vehicle’s airbag did not deploy. The accident is under investigation.
