Ledyard skunk was rabid

Ledyard – A skunk from the area of Hurlbutt Road has tested positive for rabies, the Ledge Light Health District announced today.

The skunk got into a fight with a dog and was killed by the dog’s owner, said Ryan McCammon, Ledge Light sanitarian. There was no human contact.

The public is reminded to refrain from feeding or approaching any wild or stray animals.
