Groton – Police arrested five people, including a 17-year-old , after they blocked traffic during a Good Friday peace demonstration outside the Naval Submarine Base.

Calvin Robertson, 66, of 3 Ridge St., Groton; Jacqueline B. Allen, 50, of Hartford; Steven V. Kobasa, 64, of New Haven; Brian M. Kavanagh, 68, of Hartford; and the unidentified juvenile each were charged Friday with obstruction of free passage. All five protesters were released on a promise to appear at their April 17 court date.

Groton Town police said the five arrested stepped into Crystal Lake Road and blocked vehicles from exiting the submarine base.

After the arrests, traffic continued to flow and the remaining demonstrators continued the event with "no further acts of civil disobedience observed," police said.
