Downed power line leaves outages, brush fire in New London

New London – A downed power line has caused localized power outages and a brush fire in the area of the Clarion Inn on Frontage Road.

The power outages, which were reported around 11:15 this morning, extend from the area of the Red Roof Inn, to the New London Shopping Center where Burlington Coat Factory is located, and up to selected traffic lights on Colman and Briggs streets.

As of 12:05 p.m., about 6 percent or 829 Connecticut Light & Power customers were affected by the outages.

Police are investigating the distinguished fire and CL&P is on the scene.
