New Electric Boat chief picks his team
Groton - Electric Boat's new president has picked his management team.
Kevin Poitras, whose first day as company president was May 2, announced that Kurt Hesch was promoted to vice president and Virginia-class program manager. Hesch, who has worked for EB since 1980, was the director of Virginia-class program design and engineering.
The rest of the assignments are effective May 27:
Joseph E. Chontos, vice president and general counsel, responsible for the company's legal function.
Kristin L. Fletcher, vice president and chief information officer, responsible for information technology, process engineering, planning and communications.
Peter J. Halvordson, vice president of engineering and design.
John D. Holmander, vice president of operations, responsible for Groton operations, nuclear and sub base operations, test, ship management, facilities and Quonset Point.
William P. Lennon, vice president of engineering and design programs. He replaces Poitras.
John V. Leonard Jr., vice president and chief financial officer, responsible for the company's financial functions, as well as strategic planning, new business development and Washington operations.
Robert H. Nardone, vice president of human resources and administration.
Robert G. Scheel, vice president of quality and materials.
Joseph A. Walsh, vice president for maintenance, modernization and life-cycle programs, responsible for planning yard, overhaul and repair activities; the Kings Bay site; the Puget site; HSI in Hawaii and the moored training ship program.
"This structure will enable us to focus on Electric Boat's main business objectives, two Virginia-class submarines per year, the Ohio Replacement Program and life-cycle support programs, as well as continue to focus on customer responsiveness," Poitras said in a statement.
