Mr. and Mrs. Richard Corona of Niantic announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily to Kerry Carter, son of Kerry F. Carter Sr. of Albany, N.Y., the late Mary E. Lansing of Scotia, N.Y. and sister of Leah Samman of Groton.

Emily graduated from Saint Bernard High School, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her master's degree in education from the University of New Haven.

Kerry is a graduate of Fitch High School and Syracuse University. He earned his master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

Emily and Kerry are teachers in Groton.

A June 2013 wedding is planned.
