Tax base? Tax increase? What school demands?

Towns and cities are cutting back or holding fast to spending. East Lyme officials continue to advise that our past and current tax base has and will cover necessary purchases or the bonding for the town garage, multi-million-dollar properties, hook up to New London to sustain our water supply, school and sport field replacements, etc.

Fine, I will then assume this means we the homeowners will not expect to see a tax increase even though assessments that the town was expecting before all this spending took place were to reduce by an approximate 20 percent.

Finally, I ask, which town official or officials will take a stand and say no to the constant demands of the school union/boards and parents and state, until our economy changes for the better. Enough is enough and be thankful with what we/you have.
