Ocean Avenue in New London reopened

New London -- Ocean Avenue in the vicinity of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital has reopened.

The fire department responded when a sensor activated in the area of the hospital where surgical equipment is decontaminated. Multiple tests were performed and no safety issues were found, according to hospital spokesman Michael O'Farrell.

Ocean Avenue was closed while the fire department investigated.
