Home gardeners can get advice about a variety of problems with their flower or vegetable plants, small fruits, tree fruits, ornamental shrubs, trees and lawns at the University of Connecticut Extension Center’s Master Gardener office at (860) 885-2822 or 2823.

People are also welcome to visit the office or email questions to: come to our office, or email susan.munger@uconn.

Specimens can be brought to the office; insects should be brought in containers with lids. Plant specimens can be in a plastic bag or loose. For lawn questions, bring a clump of turf. Both healthy and a damaged part of the plant is helpful in diagnosis. Master gardeners can also give advice about improving soil, identifying weeds and provide printed material at no charge.

The best time to reach a Master Gardener is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays. Callers should leave a message with your question and contact information.

The New London County Extension Center is located at 562 New London Turnpike.
