Memorial Day parades to stop traffic in Groton

Groton — Town police have announced several road closures and traffic delays on Monday as a result of the Memorial Day parades in Noank and downtown Mystic.

The following roads will be closed in Mystic from approximately 1 p.m. until about 30 minutes after the parade ends: West Main Street from the drawbridge to High Street; Water Street from West Main Street to New London Road; and Pearl and Gravel streets from West Main Street to Clift Street.

Road closures in Noank will take effect at around 10 a.m. and remain in effect until shortly after the end of the parade. Roads to be closed are: Elm Street from Brook Street to Prospect Hill Road as well as Mosher Avenue, Ward Avenue, Main Street, Pearl Street, High Street and Sylvan Street in the Village area.

Commuters can expect moderate traffic conditions around these areas during the times listed.
