Police made 77 drunken driving arrests and investigated 279 crashes on state roadways, including 57 with injury and one fatal crash, during the Memorial Day Weekend holiday.
From Friday morning until Monday at midnight, state police announced 1,797 speeding arrests and an additional 816 citations for not wearing a seatbelt.
Police said during the holiday weekend last year, there were 260 total crashes – four of which were fatal – and 70 drunken driving arrests, in addition to 2,013 speeding arrests and 978 seatbelt tickets.
Police said increased enforcement of seatbelt and speeding violations will continue throughout the summer.
