Stonington _ Police charged a Boston woman Saturday afternoon with using her iPhone to  illegally record a movie being shown at the Regal Stonington Cinemas 10 in Pawcatuck.

Kathleen S. Slavin, 28, was charged with unlawful use of a recording device in a motion picture theater. She was released on a $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court June 8.

Police said a theater manager reported that Slavin was holding her iPhone up to screen to record the movie. Police could not say what movie she was allegedly trying to record. The theater could not be reached for comment this afternoon. If found guilty, Slavin faces up to six months in prison and $1,000 fine.
