New London - The Eastern Connecticut Conference will crown its boys' tennis champions today when the tournament concludes at New London High School.
In singles, second-seeded J.P. Precourt of Norwich Free Academy faces No. 6 Suryansh Patel of East Lyme in the semifinals at noon.
The winner will come back at 4 p.m. to face No. 1 Andy King of East Lyme, the 2010 champion.
In doubles, the top-seeded duo of Waterford's Tucker Murphy and Brett Pias take on No. 6 Chris Lowry and Greg Meade of Woodstock Academy at 4 p.m.
• Former East Lyme standout Brianne Mirecki finished ninth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Claremont, Calif.
Mirecki, a sophomore at Williams College, had a time of 10.52.99. Williams finished fifth as a team.
• Old Lyme won the varsity 1 petite girls' four race at the New England Interscholastic Race Association meet on Saturday in Worcester, Mass.
Coxswain Hannah Debruyn and Emily Powers, Ari Skoufos, Arielle Sherman-Golembeski and Elena Sloan were in the boat, which won with a time of 5:35.5. It was the fourth fastest time in a girls' four boat among the 30 private and public schools competing.
In addition, Old Lyme was second in the varsity 1 petite boys' four race. The boat was rowed by coxswain Drew Pitman, Graham Ritchartz, Richie Gaudet, Wil Sherer and Liam Corrigan.
