President Obama has accomplished much

The May 28 letter, "Letter distorts Obama record, twists logic," hit the nail on the head. The writer deserves an A-plus! He clarified President Obama's record and clearly tells us the president's goals. I feel our president has accomplished many initiatives. He has stirred the hearts of the young to get out and vote.

This is the first presidential candidate to discuss race in an open and honest fashion. He brings a vision of hope, unity and optimism. He has tried to reach across the aisle without success due to the goal of narrow-minded Republicans bent on getting him out of office. Today, we will not find moderate Republicans such as the late Gov. Nelson Rockefeller and Sen. Jacob Javits.

The president signed the health care reform bill allowing children to remain covered by their parent's insurance until the age of 26 and preventing insurance companies from denying insurance due to pre-existing conditions.

He initiated expansion of Medicaid to individuals under age 65 with incomes up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level. He accomplished expansion of Pell grants for low income students, signed the Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act for 11 million kids, 4 million previously uninsured. He offers a new inclusive agenda in making our country a greater place.
