Police Warn of Thefts from Autos

Press Release from the Branford Police Department

Over the past several weeks, there have been number of residential burglaries and thefts from automobiles throughout our community. Most of the burglaries have occurred in the center of town while thefts from vehicles have predominately been in the Short Beach, Branford Hills and East Main St. and Leetes Island Rd. areas. 

All of the burglaries occurred when the homes were unoccupied. Thefts from the homes have included jewelry, other personal effects and copper plumbing from a vacant home.

Thefts from automobiles have included GPS’s, money and other electronic devices.

The Police Department is requesting your assistance in being vigilant by protecting your personal property. This includes locking all doors and windows on your home and automobiles when unattended as well as keeping expensive electronic devices and auto accessories out of plain view by potential thieves.

In addition, please report any suspicious activity immediately to police. Dispatchers will request as much information as possible. Please try to report a precise location and detailed descriptions of suspicious people including gender, race and clothing and for vehicles include make, model, color and license plate numbers if possible.
