Mystic — The Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission has postponed Tuesday’s public hearing on a controversial dental clinic planned for a lot in front of the Ocean Community YMCA on Masons Island Road until Aug. 7.

Acting Director Planning Keith Brynes said the developer requested the postponement because the Inland Wetlands Commission has not yet ruled on permit for the project.

Summit Street Development LLC of New London is seeking a special use permit to build the one-story, 4,944-square-foot building at the corner of Masons Island Road and Harry Austin Drive.

The vacant one-acre site is along the north side of Harry Austin Drive and in front of the vacant Mystic Color Lab property, where a luxury condominium project was planned several years ago but never went forward. A large group of residents opposed to the project are expected to speak at the hearing.
