WTNH News 8 is claiming its embrace of an aggressive, hard-hitting television news style is starting to resonate with viewers.

The ABC affiliate, which has an office at The Day, reported this week that its 6 p.m. newscast with Keith Kountz and Ann Nyberg ranked as the No. 1 Connecticut newscast in its time slot during May ratings sweeps for people between ages 25 and 54.

WTNH also wound up as No. 1 among the 18-49 age group when combining its 5 p.m. newscast team of Darren Kramer and Sonia Baghdady with the 6 p.m. show, according to the television station.
