Relay for Life support is much appreciated

On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I would like to extend my appreciation to the volunteer committee as well as all who attended and supported the Relay For Life of New London County Shoreline on June 16-17 at Fitch High School in Groton. More than 350 people participated, raising more than $75,000 for the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy, and service programs. The outstanding support received proves that the New London County Shoreline community is truly committed to the fight against cancer.

I want to applaud the 115 cancer survivors who participated in the opening lap and reception in their honor. They are the reason we continue the fight, because each year there can be more and more people living wonderful lives after a cancer diagnosis.

A special note of appreciation to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success. We also appreciate the generosity of our sponsors, including our Diamond Sponsor Dominion and our Gold Sponsors Groton Utilities, Shop Rite, and the 99 Restaurant.
