Former New London High School basketball standout Kris Dunn underwent successful shoulder surgery on Tuesday at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence.

Dunn checked out of the hospital late Tuesday afternoon and returned to the Providence College campus where he’s attending summer school.

“Everything looks pretty good,” said John Seldon, Dunn’s father. “We’ll know something in a couple of months.”

Dunn’s rehabilitation process is expected to take four to six months, according to Seldon who hopes his son will be ready to play for the Friars by sometime in December.

A McDonald’s All-American guard, Dunn is a key member of Providence’s incoming recruiting class.

“If he’s healthy, we want him to play,” Seldon said.

Dunn injured his right shoulder playing against Norwich Free Academy in the Eastern Connecticut Conference tournament on March 1.
