I remember being a kid in the 1950s and my mother saying, "There should be a law that stops all of these obnoxious billboards from ruining the landscape."
They really were all over the place back then. Those were also the days of the obnoxious door-to-door salesmen, vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias were their specialities, as I recall.
Then came the obnoxious TV commercials with raised volume. I believe there is a law against them now. So what's the latest obnoxious way of pushing a product here in the land of the free? The obnoxious wraparound newspaper advertisement.
These we have to unravel before we can read each section of the paper. Here's some news for The Day regarding its new form of advertisement - it's obnoxious.
