Twenty eight CAC swimmers attended their third meet of the 2012 Long Course swim season. The meet, sponsored by The Aquabears, a Windsor, CT based US Swim Club, was held on the UConn Storrs campus in the University’s 6 lane; 50 meter competition pool. Competition started on Friday 6/15 and completed Sunday evening, 6/17.
Showing the top form and conditioning of CAC's twelve 12-Under swimmers were excellent swims by Pawcatuck’s Maddy Rea, Westerly’s Finella Smith and Hope Sowle and North Stonington’s Sarah Spracklin. These swimmers won heats and showed the competition what tough is all about.
Hope Valley, RI's Jack Benavides led the charge for CAC’s 12-Under’s 17 Top Ten spots. Jack (12), competing in the Boys 11-12 Division finished 1st in the 50 Breast, 3rd in the 50 Back (36.63) and 100 Back (1:19.18), 4th in the 50 Fly (33:34), 6th in the 50 Free (31.12), 100 Free (1:08.77) and 100 Fly (1:22.46).
Richmond, RI’s Matthew Stanley (12) competing in the Boys 11-12 Division finished 2nd in the 50 Breast (40.14), 8th in the 100 Back (1:22.39), 10th in two events; the 50 Back (32.69) and the 50 Free (32.69).
Hope Valley’s Hannah Benavides (9) competing in the Girls 10-Under Division finished 3rd in the 50 Breast (49.79), and 7th in the 100 Breast (1:51.83.
Griswold's Emma McCall (9) competing in the Girls 10-Under Division finished 5th in the 50 Back (43.16), and 9th in the 50 Free (37.13).
Westerly's Lea Koppermann (12) competing in the Girls 11-12 Division finished 6th in the 200 Free (2:33.24), 7th in the 50 Breast (42.78), 9th in the 100 Back (1:24.67), and 10th in the 100 Free (1:10.15).
Pawcatuck's Wes Rea (11) competing in the Boys 11-12 Division finished 7th in the 200 Free (2:42.05), and 8th in the 50 Free (32.04).
Griswold's Gracie McCall (11) competing in the Girls 11-12 Division finished 7th in the 100 Back (1:23.05), and 10th in the 50 Back (39.04).
North Stonington's Abby Vetrovec (9) competing in the Girls 10-Under Division finished 10th in the 100 Breast (1:52.53).
