You might as well set the bar high.
In the case of Northampton, Mass. composer/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Bujak, his musical raison d'être is to invent a new form of electronic dance music. Well, this is the era when rave-meisters such as Deadmau5, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia, Kaskade and David Guetta have significantly redefined the form - so Bujak is certainly confident when he describes his work as "finally, something different."
You be the judge when Bujak appears Friday at the High Noon Saloon in Norwich. A listen to such pieces as "Beast," "Namesay" and "Sadded" indicates that Bujak is doing texturally interesting, hyper-metronomic work - incorporating diverse influences from Trent Reznor and Mike Oldfield to the Beastie Boys and Eno.
